Today, District Governor Emma Bodwell and Assistant Governor Pam Gray joined us.

 

In a truly sincere moment of gratitude, Ed Smith told us how eternally grateful he is that a Rotary social event brought him and his to-be wife, Julie, together 42 years ago.

 

Heidi expertly gathered happy dollars. Many of the contributions cited the fabulous social gathering last week at Connie’s home as well as the ice cream sandwiches donated by Big Daddy’s. Thank you, Melanie. Alice and her daughter have a history of visiting major league baseball parks. They recently took a 3,800 mile journey to visit six more parks! Now, only one remains on their list – Truist Park, the home of the Atlanta Braves. Raney and Melanie are headed to Europe on vacation. Ed Smith hopes the Ogunquit Fire Company will appropriately celebrate its upcoming 125^th anniversary. Rick is very fond of the French-toast-whoopie pies at Bread and Roses. Emma Bodwell brought along a gift from the Rotary International convention in Calgary for Brenda – a very stylish cowboy hat! She also presented President Rick with a certificate from Past District Governor Bob Mackenzie. The certificate honors our club’s contributions last year to Polio Plus. Emma then shared thoughts about the ten ways in which Rotary enriches our lives and the lives of others. They are, 

After Emma’s remarks, Brenda noted that our club donated over $7,000 to Rotary Foundation including over $3,000 to Polio Plus. And she then held a drawing to determine the winner of the quilt that she made and donated as part of last year’s Foundation campaign. Heidi won the quilt!

 

The board will meet Monday, October 6, at 5:00 at the Dunaway Center.
