Gail put some thoughts together in beautiful fashion as she described an “attitude of gratitude.”

 

Former Rotarian Steve Wilcos pointed out that Al Roker mentioned Ogunquit on TV this morning. Steve had kind words to say about our group. After missing some time with us, Tracy spoke of her sadness over the passing of Saul Ackerman, who lived above the camera shop. On a happier note, Tracy’s mom continues to do well in her ninth year since the initial cancer diagnosis. Richard’s daughter Jan Kearns will pack a set of shorts for an upcoming visit from the frigid Northwest! Pete offered a correction to the January 19 meeting recap. He and Ed Smith were aboard different ships in the Mediterranean, not the Pacific! Elizabeth Ford’s daughter had a very bad case of Covid but is on the road to recovery. Melanie donated a scooter dollar. Gail happily reported that her mom has been given permission to travel, so a trip to visit Gail’s brother in Dallas is in the works. Dr. Joe, as foundation chair, is very pleased by club members’ philanthropy. In recognition of the 4-Way Test, Joe confessed that he was sporting his Biddeford Rotary Club badge today! Erin is headed to Aruba in 34 days. (I, on the other hand, have my fingers crossed that I’ll be comfortable wearing shorts right here in Maine in 34 days!) Russ’s daughter’s house is almost finished. Tyler McOsker said he enjoys our club and hopes to join our ranks. Ed Smith will not be able to help at the Day of Warming on February 11; he’ll be involved in the funeral service for Lynne Clark Adams. On a “wouldn’t ya know it” note in connection with the incoming cold snap, Heath said the furnace at the Nellie Littlefield Inn just “bit the dust.”

Erin reminded all of us of the Day of Warming on Saturday, February 11. That same day, the Apres-ski event at Crew will benefit our club. Brenda crafted a beautiful quilt as a Day of Warming door prize. (Photo below.)

 

On Saturday, May 20, Chris Cassidy, retired United States astronaut and Navy SEAL, will be the featured speaker at an event hosted jointly by Ogunquit Rotary and The Leavitt Theater. Funds raised will benefit the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation. Save the date!

 

Susan, as social chair, suggested we take in a movie on Wednesday, February 8. Flagship Cinema will be showing 80 for Brady, A Man Called Otto and The Whale.

 

The board meets next Thursday, February 9, at The Dunaway at 5:00.
