Following the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance and the Four-Way Test, Susan provided a summary of a message in The Rotarian magazine. The article, “Good and Good For You”, tells us that engaging in acts of kindness rewards us in the form of reduced stress level and joyful feelings.
Happy/Sad Dollars… George was disappointed that none of the contestants in a recent Jeopardy episode knew what organization’s motto is “Service Above Self.” Chief Ed reported that some members of the fire department and public works obtained and installed the Christmas tree at Rotary Park. Thanks Ed! Erin, Susan, Pete and others will decorate it Tuesday afternoon. Pete has stowed the Rotary Park flags and sign for the winter. Thanks Pete! Our Clynk funds now total $378.20. Elizabeth Ford’s brother and his dog have split for Florida providing her some peace and quite. Alice enjoyed a lengthy road trip to historic sites along the Atlantic coast with her daughter. Tracy’s shoulder continues to improve. Wow, Chief Ed has been affiliated with the Ogunquit Fire Department for nearly 70 years!
The 2 Cents Sale Raffle is nearing the $3,000 goal! Please keep selling and promoting. The drawing will be on Monday afternoon/evening, December 14, at the Chamber. Erin and Alice will attempt to make it a Facebook-live event! Susan reports that 3 trunk-loads of food and household items were delivered to the St. Mary’s food pantry on giving Tuesday, December 1. Thanks go to all who contributed. The Christmas event committee crafted a “Save the Date” letter to a 2021 event to be planned. This weekend a number of folks are stuffing the 234 envelopes to be mailed on Monday. Erin reported receiving $232 in payment for masks she and Elizabeth have distributed. Erin will organize a Secret Santa event for interested members. Elizabeth Ford applauded the Chamber’s “Make a Senior Smile” card-making program for kids. (See the promo ad on page 8 of The Weekly Sentinel.) Susan is hoping to see our club engage in beach-cleanups through the Blue Ocean Society.
