We met Barbara Leazes, of Ogunquit and Sanibel-Captiva Rotary, at our May 18 meeting. Today, Barbara picked her own raffle ticket number and then drew the Ace of hearts as her first card! As a visitor, she won $25. Sort of. Stay tuned. 

 

Recently, Heath was uncertain of the truth of what someone was telling him. He paused and reflected on the 4-Way Test. Rather than challenge the information, he chose to take the path of “building goodwill and better friendships.”

 

Max Ehrmann’s 1927 poem, Desiderata, was the basis of a Grammy winning spoken word recording by Les Crane in 1971. Today, Alice recalled its early impact on her as she read a few lines. 

 

“You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.”

 

Heath presented an official Ogunquit Rotary club badge to Hannah Gagnon. 

Richard expressed pleasure at being present at the meeting. As an aside, have you ever had the delightful experience of being greeted by Richard saying, “I’m here and I’m sober?” I have and it never gets old. The Memorial Day parade made Ed Smith very happy. Erin just returned from a most enjoyable eight-day family trip in southern Europe. Steve commended Matt on the Memorial Day service in town. Tracy expressed Happy Pride wishes and admired the new Pride tee-shirts. Larry praised Heath for his selectboard service. Melanie shared her relief on learning that the wallet she left in the shopping cart at a Hannaford parking lot was turned in to the store. She vows not to make that mistake again. Hannah enjoys her work at Ogunquit Playhouse events. She, too, said “Happy Pride.” Eric’s daughter, a nurse at Douglas Wentworth, now is on the day shift. Heath is relieved that his brother-in-law was notified of a non-cancerous test outcome. Heath is looking forward to Ogunquit Pride. Alice was in Annapolis for her niece’s graduation from the Naval Academy. Alice’s daughter is in Maine to run in a race in Bar Harbor.  Matt has garnered an impressive donation of hot dogs, pizza, potato chips and whoopie pies for the 2 Cent Sale event.  Matt also offered kudos to Heath for his important behind-the-scenes role in bringing the Ogunquit Pride event to fruition. Oh, by the way, Pete did not fail!

But we know plenty of others that do!

So, you drinkers And all you CLYNKERS:

Turn in the empties; we’re depending on you!”

The account amount is $696.65.

 

So, about Barbara Leazes’s winnings… Matt auctioned off a very large chocolate bar that Erin brought home from her trip. Barbara took home the goody with a bid of $25!

 

Heath thanked Bob Cruickshank for signing up to present the Norm Wilkinson Scholarships at the Awards Night event at Wells High School. Heath also announced that the Stars of Our Nation event two weeks ago raised $1500 for the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation. This Saturday at 2:00, the Michael Troy Band will play in Perkins Cove as part of Ogunquit Pride. 

 

Erin will send a reminder signup email for BonAire! Many open slots remain for members to sell bread, baked goods and 2 Cent Sale Raffle tickets. The date is Saturday, June 10. You also can help pick up the bread at When Pigs Fly the evening of Friday, June 9. 

 

Tracy provided an update on preparations for the 2 Cent Sale. She also distributed bundles of 25 raffle tickets. You can sell them at $5 each or 5 for $20.  

 

A final note involves the District 7780 Silent Auction going on now until June 8. You can place a bid on any of the 36 items here. (Tracy, one item is a $100 Oxford Casino gift card with a current bid of only $60!)
