Beyond being the first meeting of 2025, this was our very first club meeting at Perkins Cove Kitchen, perhaps our new winter home! 

 

President Rick welcomed us and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Then, expressing thanks for her family being together for the holidays, Alice offered three quotations focused on gratitude. Operatic tenor Robert Breault said, “What greater blessing to give thanks for at a family gathering than the family at the gathering.” President Woodrow Wilson is credited with, “Friendship is the only cement that will ever hold the world together.” C. S. Lewis wrote, “When we lose one blessing , another is often most unexpectedly given in its place.” Melanie led the recitation of the Four-Way Test.

 

During happy and sad dollars, members offered condolences to Rick on his father’s passing last Saturday. Members also thanked Heath and Norm Hebert for welcoming us to Perkins Cove Kitchen. Ed Smith expressed hope that the recent troubles in New Orleans and Las Vegas are isolated incidents. Brenda expressed thanks for the friendship of the members of this club. Heath enjoyed some recent traveling. Rick was happy to share the news that Channel 13 aired a special segment featuring Rick’s 2025 calendar!

  

Pete’s poetic CLYNK message -

“Well, twenty-twenty-five is finally here,

   Time to greet the New Year with a cheer!

So now, redeem those CLYNK bags left over from last year,

   Which helps us greatly, and keeps your garage really clear!”

 

 

Rick had the prime raffle ticket and casually selected the ace of hearts on the first draw to the tune of $248!

 

Rick read notes from Elias Thomas and Rett’s Roost. Elias thanked us for inviting him and Jane to the Holiday Luncheon at Jonathan’s. The staff at Rett’s Roost appreciated our financial support. Rick offered Erin congratulations on receiving her third Paul Harris award! Then, in a twist, Rick invited Alice to present him with his first Paul Harris!

 

Brenda told us that the Rotary float in the Rose Parade won the award for the best volunteer float. Brenda also asked for assistance organizing this year’s Day of Warming on February 15^th at the Wells-Ogunquit Center at Moody. Kerry Ellen volunteered to contact Scottie Vogel about the possibility of The Front Porch providing a meal of meatloaf-and-fixins.   

 

Jim Anliot announced that Sherry Anderson from the Wells High School Guidance Department will visit to talk about the scholarship program at our January 16 meeting. 

 

Rick pointed out that Perkins Cove Kitchen is open through the winter on special hours for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
