What's better than a sunny September day? How about Ogunquit Rotary cheeseburger day in sunny September?
Our visitors today were Jim Tallman and his wife Dawn from the Rotary Club of Niles, Ohio.
President Rick expressed gratitude for the togetherness we feel and the support we give each other.
In happy dollars, Tracy was extremely pleased with this year's kite festival. She displayed the new T-shirts to everyone's delight. She also was very happy with the accommodations at Ogunquit Playhouse for her mom's wheelchair. Hannah is happy about a new pooch in the family. Erin said her daughter's wedding went perfectly. Rick and Mark just moved from Cape Neddick to Wells. They now live about a mile from my house. They contributed six old computers to Computers for Vets. Susan is going to an art show in Camden. Ed Smith was pleased to learn that Jim Tallman joined his Rotary Club the same year Ed joined our club. That was over 50 years ago. Jim is both a pest president of his club and a past district governor. Connie was excited to learn how the two cent sale is described in the novel Cliffs. Connie also urges us to dress appropriately for the gathering on her deck next Thursday as it could be snowing by then! Doctor Joe proudly spoke about the professional success his Norwegian son Arne is experiencing. Arnold was a Rotary exchange student about 30 years ago. Carol was happy about the cheeseburgers!

Doctor Joe held the winning raffle ticket but did not draw the ace of hearts.
Jim Tallman talked about his club and their annual American flag fundraiser called Fly the Flag. Jim has had perfect attendance over his entire Rotary membership. Among his club’s international activities he clearly remembers the day they were part of a team delivering over a million doses of Polio vaccine in India!
Last Monday the board Recommended a $1000 donation to the global grant supported by the Sanford-Springvale Rotary Club. Elias Thomas recently told us of the project in India to construct dams that contain flood runoff. Ed Smith made the motion for the $1000 donation and Joe Boyle seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
The club donated $200 to Bangor Bank’s peanut butter and jelly campaign. Members are reminded that jars of peanut butter and/or jelly can be dropped off at Bangor Bank anytime this month.
Erin reminds people to sign up for bread sales at Ogunquitfest.
District Governor Emma Bodwell will visit our club on October 2.
