Ed Smith provided initial amusement – “When we’re down in the dumps from taking some lumps, we need a swift kick in the rump!” Dr. Joe’s spirits were lifted in visiting his sister Irene in Hudson, Massachusetts for lunch. Elizabeth Ford praised Susan for being the glue holding the club together in these tough times. She also offered a big “attagirl” to Alice for her recent efforts and initiatives at the Chamber. According to Pete, our Clynk cash now totals $327. Ed Smith and yours truly noted the recent passing of Dan Dickerson. Lexi Haye will be home on leave in a few weeks and will be celebrating her 22nd birthday. One of Alice’s children had a birthday recently and one daughter would be having the honor of introducing Dr. Jill Biden at an event in Manchester, New Hampshire on Friday. Ed Smith and Julie celebrated 37 years of marriage. Susan has a special real estate client – her nephew – who is moving to Maine.

In updates from Susan… District 7780 will distribute 100,000 masks on October 6 as part of Rotary International’s Million Masks program. We will receive 300. It might be appropriate to provide them to the Senior Center. Does anyone have another idea? The Freeport Rotary club is requesting donations to a global grant to aid Kenya; we are focusing on making local donations. A representative of Toastmasters will join in our October 16 meeting.
October 24th is World Polio Day. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation provides 2 for 1 matching. Erin challenges all of us to send a check of at least $10 payable to Ogunquit Rotary (PO 2338) for RI’s End Polio Now campaign.
While continuing with mask-making, Elizabeth Ford is hot on another project – Stars for our Troops – donating stars from retired American flags to current and former U.S. service men and women. Here’s a link for more info…

After one month, the 2 Cents Sale Raffle has brought in about $800. With two months to go, we need to intensify our efforts if we’re to reach our goal of $3000. What can you do?
