The Rotary Club of
Ogunquit

Recap of Thursday, January 16, 2025
Rick was a few minutes late; Alice led the Pledge of Allegiance. Pete did the honors on the Four-Way Test – you betcha! Dr. Joe expressed gratitude for the personal rewards Rotary provides him through his involvement in both our club and the club of Biddeford-Saco.

We enjoyed a tasty spinach salad and excellent chicken breast with fettuccine.

Dr. Joe was happy about the joy he and Vickie experience from the playfulness of their two cats, Misha (Baryshnikov) and Rudy (Nureyev.) For the record, Joe and Vickie are avid fans and supporters of ballet. One of Susan’s sisters is recovering well from recent surgery. Susan says, “Be grateful for the day.” Jim Anliot and his wife are looking forward to lots of travel this year to Japan, Alaska, Scandinavian capitals and the western Mediterranean area. Heidi enjoyed her first yoga class and is delighting in the pleasure of adjusting to progressive lens eyeglasses. Elizabeth Cutler told of the joy she experiences whenever Rick’s green Jeep goes honking past. Alice is happy that January, her least favorite month, is half over. Eileen is glad to be back after a brief illness. Pete reported,

I rise to recite this week's little rhyme,
Which reports our CLYNK account at this time.
Thanks to all who take those green-bags in,
The account now stands at five thirty-two and ten! That is: $532.10”

Heidi had the winning ticket. She drew the jack of diamonds and the 5 of clubs. No winner today.

Rick announced that Eric has thrown his hat in the ring to be the club’s treasurer starting in July! District Governor Bob MacKenzie informed Rick that District 7780 is forming a response to the fires in Los Angeles. The board approved donations to Boots to Roots, Habitat for Humanity, Sweetser, Great Works Land Trust, Gramtastic Connections, Life Flight, and the Monarch School. The board approved membership status changes from Active to Honorary for Gail Bergeron, Jyoti Goodwin-Jones, and Ann Lee Hussey. In addition, the memberships of  Matt Buttrick and Jen Bassett have been consolidated into one corporate membership for the Town of Ogunquit. The board also decided that summaries of board proceedings shall be announced during club assembly at the meeting following a board meeting. Summaries will no longer be posted on the club’s website.

Brenda reported that Kerry arranged with Scottie Vogel for food for the Day of Warming at the senior center on February 15. Erin will be the event leader. Susan and Tracy will spearhead the decorating party. The rest of us should show up around 11:30.

Brace yourselves for the deep freeze next week!

Respectfully,

Ed Seppa
