We were elated at the sight of Nii Lokko arriving at yesterday's meeting! We also had two visitors; Tina Forton, owner of Bourne Bed and Breakfast, and Annie Winkler Beauchemin, whose father was an Ogunquit Rotarian.
Rick led us in the recitation of The Pledge of Allegiance. For the moment of gratitude, Susan read the poem Reassurances by Kim Adona.

Kerry was happy to have recently seen Dr. Lokko in the office and again today at lunch! Elizabeth Cutler was happy to be part of the happy and chatty group at her table. Pete was happy to report as follows,

Rick observed that we, as a group, seem to be in a very positive place. I told of seeing an interview with Robert Putnam, who writes on public policy. Mr. Putnam commented that America was lifted out of economic distress following the Gilded Age in part by the formation of organizations like Rotary at the dawn of the 20th century. I felt pride to be part of Rotary and of this club in particular. Ray also said he was happy that Nii was with us. Alice’s son is selling his modest home in Sanford at a good price. See Alice for details. Tracy was happy to see both Tina and Nii. Eric and Dr. Joe both were happy that Nii had joined us. Erin thanked everyone for the successful Day of Warming.
Pete had the winning ticket. He missed out on a ten-spot when he drew the 2 of spades and another card that was not the ace of hearts!
In reporting on last week’s board meeting, Rick noted that, for personal reasons, Brenda has chosen to step aside from the roles of secretary and foundation chair. Dr. Joe will be the foundation chair and I will resume the position of secretary. Rick will attend the President-Elect Learning Seminar (NEPELS) next month in Framingham, MA. The District 7780 Learning Assembly in Westbrook is on April 5.
Après-ski at Crew and The Front Porch is this Saturday, February 22, starting at noon and running until 10 PM. Enjoy music, food and drink.
Planning for the Two-Cents Sale has begun. Today, Carol Brennan signed up the Weekly Sentinel to sponsor one of the five prize tables. Thank you, Carol!
Susan reminded us of vacancies in the following positions: membership chair, foundation chair starting in July, and president for 2026-27.
On March 6, two representatives of the Southern Maine Agency on Aging (SMAA) will visit to talk about their work. They are Megan Walton, Chief Executive Officer, and Meredith Anderson, Community Outreach Director. Sherry Anderson from the Wells High School Guidance Department will visit us on March 20.
