Eleven members arrived to say thanks to Sarah Diment whose Beachmere Inn hosted us for nearly a decade. As the advertisement in The Weekly Sentinel stated, the Ogunquit Rotary Club is moving on! In order to change our meeting time from breakfast to lunch, we are leaving the Beachmere and “setting up home” at Bintliffs-Ogunquit Restaurant. 

 

Pete, Ray, Tracy, Lisa and Erin posted happy dollars to say “Thanks” and “Miss ya!” to Sarah. Ed Smith’s happy dollar focused on his upcoming Christmas cruise. Tracy offered new-baby congrats to Mariah.  Pete says the Clynk account stands at $123.95.

 

Ed Seppa held the winning 50/50 ticket but saw $52 fly off in drawing the 6 and 10 of clubs.

 

Erin presented a Certificate of Appreciation plaque to Sarah who said she and the staff had enjoyed having us.

 

Erin reviewed the November board of directors’ minutes. The club is in good financial standing. All line item contributions that were approved when the budget was set have been sent out: the final Beachmere gratuity, YCCC scholarship, York County Realtors Fuel Assistance, Wells-Ogunquit Outreach, and WOCSD Literary Awards. Two other contributions were approved by the board: $200 to Shelter Box and $250 to the Ogunquit Memorial Library.

 

Erin thanked members for their work in preparing for the move to Bintliff’s.

Erin and Emily will draft a new contributions approval letter. Amanda completed the task of purchasing gifts for the 5 children the club sponsored in this year’s Spirit of Giving. The event is TODAY, December 2, at 4:00 at Maine Street.Please attend! Elizabeth Cutler has taken on the job soliciting website sponsorships. Ed Smith moved the Rotary international sign from the Beachmere to Bintliff’s. Ray Hamlin will oversee the updating of the Route 1 Rotary club signs with our new time and location information. Connie Griffin wrote an article about our time and place changes for the Weekly Sentinel and the District Newsletter. Carol Brennan ran the article as an as for us. Ed Seppa will update meeting time and place info on the club, district and Rotary International websites. Erin thanked Pete the “Bag man” and, now, the “Plaque man”.  Ed Smith will check on the old projector at the firehouse; if not, should the club purchase one for use at Bintliff’s? Emily will serve as greeter and will collect 50/50 money. Ed Smith agreed to continue as Sergeant at Arms for the near term; is another member willing to do the job? Richard has agreed to continue to provide the invocation at each meeting going forward. Kerry Ellen agreed to be the RSVP person for our Friday meetings. Reminder: please email/text/talk to Kerry by noon Thursday if you will attend so she can notify Norm at Bintliff’s. John Clancy and Connie agreed to co-chair the Holiday Luncheon committee. Erin thanked Mary, Tracy and George for assisting. Ed Smith will serve as MC at the event on Thursday, December 13. Erin thanks all members who have already paid their December lunch bills of $36. Erin thanked Lisa for submitting the IRS e-postcard. Pete volunteered to take down the flags and to remove the Rotary Park sign for the winter.  This Wednesday, December 5 at noon, Tracy, Elizabeth Ford and Pete will decorate the Christmas tree in the cove. (George is buying the tree today and he’ll arrange for the town to transport it.) 

 

At our first meeting at Bintliff’s this Friday we’ll be assembling s’mores for the fire pit at the Chamber’s event in the cove that evening. Tracy and Elizabeth Ford are co-ordinating.

 

Saturday, December 8, the club will participate in the Christmas By the Sea parade. Elizabeth Ford and, perhaps, Carol Brennan and Kerry Ellen and others will represent us.

 

Please notify John or Connie if you will/will not attend the Holiday Luncheon at Jonathan’s on the 13^th.  There will be a board meeting after the luncheon. There will not be a social that evening. 

 

We’ll do a $15 Yankee Swap at our December 21^stmeeting.
