Rick led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Pete guided us in the recitation of the Four-Way Test. Dr. Joe’s moment of gratitude focused on the ultra-comfortable ride he has enjoyed in the Jaguar sedan that recently gave up the ghost after many good years.

In happy-and-sad dollars, Nancy reported that Kerry’s flight to South Africa took just 20 hours! Dr. Joe now is the proud owner of a Honda CRX which he admits is a suitably less-racy mode of transport than the Jag. Jim Anliot expressed delight at having been in the Olympic arena in Milan for the gold-medal performance of American skater Alysa Liu! Jim is excited to be going to Northeast Presidents-Elect Leadership Seminar (PELS) in Framingham this weekend. Jim also thanked Carol for the pieces in the Weekly Sentinel about the OGT PD sand-bucket program and our scholarships program at Wells High School. Melanie is headed to San Juan for the start of a week-long Caribbean cruise. Jim Eshleman, a returning guest, is pleased that even at age 79 he can keep pace with his son-in-law when they go to Planet Fitness. I noted the accuracy of Ed Smith’s prediction last fall of a harsh winter. I also am pleased to be accompanying Elizabeth Cutler and Joanna Manikas to the Music Hall in Portsmouth in June for a presentation by historian and author Jill Lepore. Elizabeth says she’s been eating well since discovering the Portland indoor farmers’ market. Ed Smith happily spoke of having had an hour-long visit with Richard Littlefield who “is doing just great.”  Ed then added a sad dollar to report that his wife is at the Portsmouth Hospital Trauma Center after suffering fractures of her arm and wrist in a fall at home. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Smiths. Alice is going to Myrtle Beach. Brenda obtained a Jitterbug smartphone that will provide contact with husband Dick. Brenda will be the luncheon speaker at an Ohio area PELS event like the one Jim is attending. Susan has plans to visit her sister in Scottsdale. Eric enjoyed the spring-like weather earlier this week. 

Pete’s latest CLYNK report is,

Rick introduced Ed Smith for a member talk. He delighted us with recollections of various careers, being introduced at a Rotary event to his wife-to-be, serving as cubmaster and scoutmaster and the family connection to the Cliff House. This presentation was one for which you “shoulda been there.”  

The board will meet this Monday at 5 at Bangor Bank. Among other topics we will discuss returning to Jonathan’s for meetings in the April through December portion of the calendar. Thoughts on the matter should be shared with Rick.
