The Rotary Club of
Ogunquit

Meeting recap of Friday, December 6, 2019
This was Dr. Joe’s third Rotary meeting of the week after going to the Wells club on Monday and Biddeford-Saco on Thursday. He’s a Super-Rotarian! His granddaughter from Texas, Marybeth, will be home for Christmas. He caught up with Nick Pauli and Steve Arnold, some folks he has not seen in some time. Melanie had her fingers crossed that her daughter-in-law would hold off giving birth until the scheduled closings have been completed! Richard thanked all for his birthday greetings. Pete was impressed by John’s gravy-serving skills.

Pete outdid himself…

“While soon you Yankees will be swapping around,
I’ll tell you first something profound!
Our CLYNK account’s going out of bounds;
It’s $120.85! Now how does that sound?”

and he closed with, “Holiday drinking is great for Clynking!”

Kerry Ellen wished everyone a Happy Christmas and a Wonderful 2020.  Kerry and other movie fans are headed to Flagship-Wells on Sunday for the 3:30 showing of Richard Jewell; please join in if you wish. Tracy thanked Heath for the great Christmas tree in the cove, the s’mores team, and John and the team for the great holiday luncheon at Jonathan’s. George has moved to Durham but promises to come back for meetings if we are nice to him! We’ll see…  George also informed us that someone asked to see his post-cruise tan-line! Finally, George was fined for promoting his business at Rotary!  Susan’s mom is doing well at her new home at Huntingdon Commons.  Elizabeth Ford’s family is flying here for the holidays. Emily happily reported that her father, who was hospitalized, is doing very well.  Yours truly is happy that we are on the brightening side of the winter solstice. John volunteered a late dollar and thanked the team for the holiday event at Jonathan’s. Erin’s happy news will be evident on Facebook on Christmas night… quite mysterious, don’t you think?

Richard drew the 2 of spades and 8 of spades. Ohhh, so sad!

Very happily, Alice Pearce, the new executive director of the Ogunquit Chamber of Commerce, will join our club, transferring from the Lincoln-Woodstock (NH) club.

We closed out the meeting with a raucous round of Yankee Swapping.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Joyful New Year!
