The Rotary Club of
Ogunquit

Meeting recap of Friday, July 3, 2020
Fresh from her induction at the district changeover, Governor Peggy Belanger made her first official club visit to us today, via Zoom of course. Our favorite assistant governor, Larry Marsolais, was on the call as well.

As you know, this was Susan DeQuattro’s first meeting as president and she ran the show like an old pro, don’t you know! After the pledge of allegiance and the four-way test, Susan reminded us of the “Object of Rotary”.

Happy Dollars:

Dr. Joe and Vickie were visited by two grandchildren; the family enjoyed good times in the back yard and on the river. Melanie is happy for Susan’s presidency and to share the news that Ogunquit will soon have it’s own branch of Big Daddy’s!
Pete weighed in with the Clynk report; the account stands at $226.20. Susan is excited about the year ahead. Erin has reservations for an Ogunquit “staycation” with two cousins. Her daughter, Casi, will celebrate her 21st birthday in two weeks. Ed Seppa is happy that he and Carol recently had a day-long visit by the pool with daughter Lynn and son-in-law Chris. Susan discovered that Ruthie, former Bintliff’s waitress, is working at Patio 03907!

Governor’s message:

Peggy highlighted the new Rotary theme, “Rotary Opens Opportunities.” She then elaborated on some “Calls to Action” for clubs in the District 7780: 1) Developing acquaintances, 2) Retaining membership, 3) Creatively using technology, 4) Creative thinking for fundraising, 5) Growing Interact, Rotaract and RYLA, and 5) Building inclusion and diversity in our memberships. The last item will be one focus of the 2021 District Conference on May 21 in Kennebunkport.

Regarding inclusion, Susan made mention of a thought that was shared at PETS several months ago: “Inclusion is an act; diversity is a fact!” Also, according to Dr. Joe, the Biddeford-Saco club includes its sister club in England on Zoom calls. Erin wondered if the district might make available the remote meeting info of all clubs.

The board will meet next Thursday, July 9, at 6 PM via Zoom.

Wishing you a Happy 4th of July,

Ed Seppa
