Preparing for Christmas of twenty eighteen,
We wondered what Yankee Swap gifts we would glean.
The setting was Bintliff’s, that fine restaurant,
That only this month became our new haunt.
So Connie, Ray, George and President Erin
joined Carol, Nii, Tracy, Sir Richard and Edwin.
As did Pete and Elizabeth Cutler and George
not to leave out the other Elizabeth… Ford.
Then there were Emily, Mary and Kerry,
and be sure to remember Amanda most merry!
And let’s not forget about Nancy our guest
Who no doubt left thinking our club is best!
The dreary weather was no match for our bright spirits today. We were missing only 5 members… great turnout! Nancy Lowenberg of Wells, an account exec at Clearent Business Systems, visited with us.
Elizabeth Cutler kicked off happy dollars wishing all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Kerry Ellen called attention to a particularly spirited table. Pete admired Erin’s colorful paperwork graphics. The Clynk account stands at $149.40. Tracy is delighted that everyone is home for the holidays. Amanda says “Merry Christmas.” Mary is very happy that her grandson Ryan is engaged to be married. She wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Nancy Lowenberg said “Merry Christmas and thank you.” George noted the shortest-day feature of Winter Solstice. Richard followed up by sagely reminding us “when days begin to lengthen, the cold begins to strengthen!” Elizabeth Ford mentioned the fun time she and others had making smores in the cove during Christmas by the Sea festivities. Connie and her sister Susan are seriously planning a trip to Australia and New Zealand. Erin excitedly informed us that the York County Coast Star named our club a “Christmas Angel” for our beach wheelchair efforts.

Ray was the big winner as he drew the 8 of Diamonds and the Ace of Hearts! He walked away with $64.
Erin distributed a new 2019 club calendar; it will soon be posted on the club’s website.
We closed out the day with a lively Yankee Swap. Everyone was a big winner.
One more thing… most members know that our club contributes to Friends Forever, an international organization dedicated to working with youth to build peace in conflict areas. Erin recently received an email from Tegan Kurzynowski of Friends Forever; it reads as follows:
“Happy Holidays! I wanted to reach out to the Ogunquit Rotary Club to share an event that a team from Northern Ireland put on. Team LYFFE from Holy Family Youth Centre and Mountcollyer Youth Club this past weekend carried out an annual Friends Forever holiday event. The young people from the team dressed up as elves and led families with young kids to the Santas Grotto they created in their local park! This park has a peace wall that runs through. A parent that brought their 6 young kids to see Santa shared, ‘It's the first time we have been able to bring all the kids to see Santa together’. Friends Forever young people over the course of the last four years have made this cross-community event a staple for families in the neighborhood.”
