Oh, the good times you miss out on when you cannot attend a meeting at Jonathan’s! After Heath lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance, Dr. Joe did the 4-Way Test honors and told us how supporting the Rotary Foundation is “beneficial to all concerned.” Speaking on the topic of gratitude, Elizabeth Ford tied Thanksgiving to seeing people giving thanks. In her work at the YCSA thrift shop she is thankful that donations have finally picked up again post-Covid. Elizabeth urges us to not just say, “thanks” casually, but to say, “Thank YOU!” with feeling.
Heath asked members to complete Ogunquit’s comprehensive plan survey. Robin Millward, chair of the comprehensive plan committee, will be our guest speaker on December 1. Heath announced that John Clancy is stepping down from his position on the board of directors due to time constraints. Kerry Ellen and Tracy are joining the board. John, Kerry and Tracy, thanks for all you do for our club! Also at the December 1 meeting, we will take a vote on the slate of club officers for 2023-24. The slate is: president - Alice Pearce, president-elect - Matt Buttrick, Treasurer – Erin Haye, and secretary – Ed Seppa. After the meeting, members will decorate the Christmas tree in Perkins Cove.
Heath introduced Larry Carlson, our newest member! Then, Matt Buttrick gave Larry his Rotary pin and member packet. Welcome, Larry!
Heath announced that Kerry Ellen has been awarded her Paul Harris Fellow level 2 pin for having reached the $2000 level of giving to the Rotary Foundation.
And, in yet another announcement, Heath handed Dr. Joe an award from the Endowment Fund of the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International for becoming a benefactor. Joe has included the Endowment Fund as a beneficiary of $1,000 in his estate.
Folks were happy about many things. Ed Smith, for the good weather. Richard, for the company of three lovely ladies at his table! Also, Richard’s family from Colorado will visit for Thanksgiving. Dr. Joe and Vickie will enjoy Thanksgiving with 20 family members. Tracy is headed to Playa del Carmen, Mexico! Fun-fact: Larry Carlson first met Kerry Ellen 40 years ago! Both Erin and Matt expressed gratitude for the top-notch efforts of public safety officials in response to the active-shooter hoax earlier this week. Elizabeth Ford gave Erin the boot! (You had to be there.) Pete generously handed Erin a $100 check as a donation to the Rotary Foundation. Here is Pete’s Clynk report ($313.70)

Matt auctioned off a David Sullivan photograph of footbridge scene for the Polio Fund. Kerry Ellen won with a bid of $100. Tracy announced the highest revenue yet for Ogunquitfest: $954. Erin helped us give gifts to six children in the Spirit of Giving.
