Our club is growing! With the induction of Hannah Gagnon and Jim Anliot, we now have 33 regular members and six honorary members. 

 

We filled the room with 26 members and five guests present. Jen Hayes said she wishes to become a member! Also with us were four people from Great Works Regional Land Trust: Jordan Kelley, executive director; Sandy Agrafiotis, director; Daniel Maxton, community engagement coordinator; and Lori Jean Kinsey, friend.

 

Heath led the Pledge of Allegiance, Steve commented on the 4-Way Test and Susan provided thoughts of the infinite universe for the message of gratitude. 

 

Do you remember news from Lake Wobegon? Well, we have our own news. More than a few members expressed delight at the prospects of a sunny weekend. Tracy’s niece Chloe is engaged to be married to a young man from New Zealand. Ed Smith shared the sad news of the passing of local dentist, Dr. Habas. Dr. Joe was excitedly anticipating Vickie’s daughter’s visit to enjoy the coronation of King Charles III with Vickie and Joe. George’s Durham Great Bay Rotary club is selling lilacs and hydrangeas. Susan is re-housing her 95-year-old aunt’s cat. Elizabeth Cutler has taken up pickleball. Tyler also enjoys the game. Steve is pleased to be a neighbor of GWRLT. Heath told a hairy-dog tale. Hannah’s boyfriend will graduate college this Saturday. Alice will participate in the Southern Maine AIDS Walk next Saturday. Erin and family will be going to Spain to visit with Lexi. Rick was happy to be back at Rotary meetings after a month of physical therapy. He also was pleased to see Carol at the meeting. Pete reported $578.55 in CLYNK cash!

 

“It matters not the beverage you drink,

If you take all the empties to CLYNK,

Sounds like a plan, don’t you think?

 

Tracy missed out on $125 when she drew the 3 of hearts and the jack of spades.     

 

Matt auctioned off a $25 Big Daddy’s gift card. He worked some magic to extract more than $70 from Rick after a biddig war with Kerry!

 

Heath awarded Matt his first Paul Harris Fellow award. Then Ed and Dr. Joe received their sapphire and ruby PHF pins.

Heath and Melanie inducted Hannah and Joe as our newest members. 

 

In club news, Heath read a thank-you message from Deana Cavan of Rett’s Roost. He announced that our club will award two $2,000 Norm Wilkinson scholarships at Wells High School this June. Members are encouraged to get their tickets for Stars of our Nation on May 20. Please save June 28 for the 2023 Changeover event at The Beachmere. Tracy spoke for a couple of minutes about members’ responsibilities (raffle ticket sales, gift baskets, etc.) in the upcoming 2 Cent Sale. Mark both July 19 and July 20 on your calendars. 

 

Alice introduced Jordan Kelley who talked about recent Great Works Regional Land Trust developments including the Old Boston Land conservation project on the Ogunquit River. Jordan provided some GWRLT newsletters; they will be handed out at our May 18^th meeting.
