For the Moment of Gratitude, Ed Smith spoke of having earlier in the morning enjoyed a visit with Richard Littlefield.
People were happy about a wide range of topics. Dr. Joe and his table-mates chatted about sailing and power-boating. Barbara was gushing over the news that a first grandchild is on the way! Pete emphatically announced,
“Thanks to all who have redeemed their empties,
Our CLYNK account has taken a good leap.
So keep on draining those cans and bottles,
And add them all to the growing heap!
We have $511.95 in our CLYNK account.”
In other happy dollars, Jyoti conveyed a message from Richard. He says “Hello” and he misses all of us. Jyoti also noted that this is the time of her late grandmother Mary’s 92nd birthday. I am glad that the new series of Ted Lasso is now airing. I very much enjoyed exploring the exhibit at the Brick Store Museum in Kennebunk focused on one of the original 200 copies of the Declaration of Independence printed in July 4, 1776 by John Dunlop. It was on loan from the Maine Historical Society. Eric’s daughter and son-in-law are in town. Brian was very happy having been able to visit with his 94 year old mother in Florida who is very “with it” and reads lots of books. Erin recently spent quality time with both daughters. Erin and Rick are going on a motorcycle ride in South Dakota in a group of 12 friends.
Dr. Joe had the winning ticket but drew the 2 of clubs and the 3 of spades.
President Jim presented Brian with his official certificate of membership in the Ogunquit Rotary club. (photo below)
Then Jim introduced Chloe Madsen who spoke briefly about her first year at Brigham Young University. She has been very happy living the college life as she has truly enjoyed all of the courses she has taken so far. Ms. Madsen has been involved in community service through a BYU program called Y-Serve that offers more than 70 opportunities to serve others. While she very much enjoys living in Utah, she loves Maine but she is open to living and working anywhere. At the conclusion of her remarks, Dr. Joe thanked her for visiting with us. (photo beelow)
Susan and Connie are considering a late afternoon social gathering on Thursday, August 27.
Several members turned in their Super September Calendar monies at this meeting. Erin reminded everyone that money and ticket stubs must be turned in by August 30.
The board will meet at 5 p.m. on Monday, August 17, at Bangor Bank.
