Dr. Joe donned his blue blazer to serve as Greeter. Alice filled in for Rick who was away at a funeral. Hannah’s internet search yielded several hits for the Moment of Gratitude; among them this from Winnie the Pooh – Piglet noted that even though he had a very small heart it could hold a lot of gratitude! Melanie led the Four-Way Test.
Heidi volunteered to collect Happy Dollars. Eileen was looking forward to a book-signing at the Cliff House by J. Courtney Sullivan, author of The Cliffs. Ed Smith apologized for missing the 2 Cent Sale. And recently he and his wife recovered from bouts of Covid. As he often does, Richard expressed pleasure to be “with all these nice people.” Dr. Joe was excited to be going to the Portland Museum of Art to an event featuring the head of the National Endowment for the Humanities. He also was pleased to report on the renewable-energy business accomplishments of Arne, his Norwegian son. Susan and Tom had a mini vacation in Cooperstown. They, too, are recovered from Covid. Bob reported that the flowers at Rotary Park are “the best ever.” Tracy said the Smith family has recovered from Covid. Alice will go to Block Island on vacation next week.

For the Rotary Foundation, Hannah auctioned off two tickets to My Best Friend’s Wedding at the Ogunquit Playhouse. Tracy and Erin teamed up to bid $100.
Pete was pleased to introduce Andy Ritzo and Sophie Cordery of the Ogunquit Museum of American Art who visited us in conjunction with the Perkins Cove Plein Air event. Andy provided an in-depth history of Oqunquit’s art colony and the museum leading up to the current exhibit – Lee Krasner: Geometries of Expression. Sarah gave an overview of the museum’s educational activities.
Tracy and Erin reviewed plans for the 24th Annual Capriccio Festival of Kites.
Members are asked to bring donations to the September 19 club meeting for Bangor Bank’s PB&J Drive. Alice announced a food drive for the month of September to benefit St Mary’s Ecumenical Food Bank. She noted that the September board meeting is not next week; the board will meet on Thursday, September 26 at 5:00 at the Dunaway.
