Eleven intrepid souls defied Old Man Winter to congregate at Perkins Cove Kitchen, our winter home this year. For the first time in a while, Richard Littlefield joined us along with his daughter, Jan Kearns, who is visiting from South Dakota. 

 

Following the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance, Rick expressed gratitude for an article in the current Rotary magazine in which David Byrne writes of a cheerful story. It involves the removal of old electric power dams on the Penobscot River. The good news is that fish and wildlife have started to return to the river now that it is no longer stagnant upstream of the dams.

 

Tracy led us in the recitation of the Four-Way Test. 

 

After lunch, several of us talked of being happy to be together. Ed Smith asked us to enjoy what is, in his words, a “traditional Maine winter.” Susan spoke for all us in saying she was happy to see Richard. Richard was happy that Jan accompanied him to the meeting. Further, he expressed thanks to members of the club for providing support during his recent health episode. We love you, Richard. Tracy had an enjoyable time at Disney World. She gave an update on the major renovation of the camera shop and the apartment above. 

 

Pete could not attend today but he emailed his CLYNBK report.

Jan Kearns held the winning ticket and drew the ace of hearts on the first card!

 

Rick informed us that Carole Aron has stepped away from the club due to other commitments. She hopes to return at some point.

 

Jim Anliot said that Sherry Anderson from the Wells High School guidance department will speak to us on March 20.

 

Reminder: The Day of Warming at the senior center is next Saturday, February 15. Please arrive around 11 A.M. Don’t forget your Rotary apron!

 

The next board meeting is at 5:00 this coming Thursday at the Dunaway Center.
